It is operated by Winnie Pang and Seet Chong Ghee who love children and have been involved in child development in various ways. They would like to create an environment to inspire learning in children and help them realise their dreams of providing quality care and education to children.

On 10^th Dec 2011, parents of existing children were invited to the first Meet-the-Parents session. It was delightful to see the excited parents looking forward to the new centre’s opening. The session started with an in-depth sharing of the Blossom curriculum, followed by other discussions on physical upgrading, transition timeline and administrative matters. Some of the plans for physical upgrading are a new coat of paint for the interior and extra fittings such as fans and lights, giving the centre a fresh new look! There was also good feedback from parents who highlighted several areas of improvements so as to make the centre a more conducive environment for learning.

The registration for enrolment in calendar year 2012 has started. The new Blossom Aspiration Centre has certainly opened up more opportunities for Blossom Edugroup to grow. We aim and truly hope to remain the preferred choice for quality child care and pre-school education!

A make-over for Blossom Discovery @ Lorong Chuan!

In July 2011, Blossom Discovery relocated from its old premise at Chartwell Drive to Lorong Chuan. The new premise underwent extensive renovation with the aim of becoming the model setup for Blossom’s group of childcare centres.

Apart from a new coat of paint for the interior and exterior, extra fittings such as fans, lights and furnishings were added to give the school a brand new look. Existing fire safety installations were also upgraded to meet the latest fire safety regulations. To increase the overall capacity of the centre, extension of the basement was carried out too.

The relocation to Lorong Chuan has enabled Blossom Discovery to grow not just in size but in numbers too! The centre is now licenced to accommodate a full capacity of 52 children up from 44 children! Our children have settled in very well and have gone on to make many new friends and interact with new staff and teachers. The new premise has also brought much joy to our children as Blossom Discovery now boasts a bigger outdoor play space with more playground equipment, complete with a mini garden too!

The new Blossom Discovery has certainly opened up more opportunities for Blossom Edugroup to grow. Through this relocation, it has enabled us to reach out more to the public and provide evidence of our effort to continually seek to improve and upgrade ourselves. We aim and truly hope to remain the preferred choice for quality childcare and preschool education!

Super job, Claris!

Blossom’s Computer Literacy Course is an enrichment lesson that allows our Nursery 2 to Kindergarten 2 children to explore the world of information technology and learn basic computer skills.

Excellent work, Qi An!

Cyberland International, our vendor for this course, organises a yearly preschool ‘Digital Art Competition’. This annual competition gives children the opportunity to express themselves creatively through digital designing. It also showcases the children’s creativity, stimulates their interest in arts and design and encourages them to work creatively to produce an independent project they can be proud of.

During lessons where children have the opportunity to design e-cards, they learn the necessary keyboard and mouse skills to do simple digital designing. For this competition, they exercised every bit of their creativity by putting the computer skills they have learnt to full use, making use of shape tools to stamp graphics, mouse for re-sizing and text boxes to insert words. Indeed, the children deserve to be commended for a job well done!

Congratulations to our little E-card designers for a job well-done! Clap, clap, clap, clap clap!

Way to go Aunty Foo!

The Blossom Edugroup 2010 ‘Best Staff Award’ went to Aunty Foo Kwee of Blossom Creative Centre! Aunty Foo undoubtedly deserves Blossom’s best staff award as her good working attitude can be witnessed and is often admired by all the teachers and the management of Blossom.  She goes about quietly getting her job done conscientiously, takes great pride in her work and carries out her duties without hesitation.

A hardworking individual, she is very thorough in her cleaning duties and does not need to be reminded to carry out her assigned duties well. With her positive work attitude, she has definitely brought the standard of our centre’s health and hygiene up. Possessing a cheery disposition, she also does not hesitate to help the teachers in assisting their classes and be a hands-on contributor to the well-being of the children in our centre.

A worthy recipient for the Best Staff Award 2010, we would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank Aunty Foo for her immeasurable dedication and commitment to Blossom! The management would like to wish her many many more happy years of working with Blossom!

In addition, research shows that children form food preferences mostly during their pre-school years, and the eating habits and preferences acquired during this time remain with them later on in life.

Good eating habits cultivated during childhood are also more likely to be carried over into adulthood. For example, studies have found that when pre-school children observed other children eating vegetables that they themselves did not like, their preferences and their intake of vegetables subsequently increased.

At Blossom, we acknowledge that young children who attend child care centres spend a major part of their day at the centres while their parents are at work and recognise that childcare centres play an important role in shaping children’s food habits.

Hence, since 2008, Blossom has been actively involved in the Healthy Eating in Child Care Centres Programme initiated by the Health Promotion Board (HPB).

At the end of 2009, with the aims of cultivating good eating habits and providing nutritional food for our growing children, we undertook an exercise to create, trial and finally launch the Blossom Healthier Choice Menu.

In addition to incorporating dietary guidelines, Blossom also includes nutrition education for children in the curriculum, as well as displaying nutrition information within the premises of our child care centres.

We worked hard in creating and recreating our new menu, making sure nutrition, taste, variety etc were not left out. Our efforts paid off as our dedication in providing healthy eating in our centres were recognised.

We successfully attained the standard and guidelines set by HPB and are now proud recipients of the Healthy Eating Award 2010.

Not only are we absolutely thrilled to have received the award, the greatest achievement for us, is the satisfaction we get from our children’s positive response and enthusiastic appetites to the newly created dishes!

To better share these essential ingredients of a quality childcare and pre-school programme, and to provide regular and timely update of our services, our webmaster began work on the preliminary design in 2009 and has been working intensively over the last few months to create a revamped website that seeks to meet the above goals.

The revamped website was officially launched on 1 May 2010.

Apart from the standard informative pages about Blossom Edugroup accessible from page links found at the top navigation bar, the new site is designed to feature interesting teaching and learning activities that Blossom’s children are engaged in throughout the year.  Articles are categorised and tagged for easy search and retrieval.

Interactivity is achieved through the option of leaving a response for each of the online articles.  A host of other functionalities such as Entries (RSS), Comments (RSS), Related Posts and Keyword Search are included to enhance the surfing experience of the site.

We hope you will find our revamped website and its features interactive, exciting and easy to navigate.  If you have any comments or feedback, please share with us and our webmaster will be most happy to incorporate them in the next facelift.

We set out to create a portal that is user friendly and believed that it is a unique approach that surpasses the coverage offered by other conventional progress reports.

We are pleased to announce that the e-Profiling portal has now been granted Singapore Patent P-No.: 146571 on 15 Apr 2010 by The Registrar of Patents, Singapore.

This patent ascertains that the e-Profiling portal is the first and only in the World to provide such a comprehensive feedback mechanism that encompasses rubric assessment, comparative benchmark and e-portfolio.

Being the inventor, the Singapore Patent grants the exclusive rights to Blossom as the only institution in Singapore permitted to provide such a progressive feedback methodology.

Understandably, we are very proud to be accorded the inventor status in developing and providing this progressive online assessment and evaluation model.  Our research in this area and other areas of educational development will continue and we hope to share more of such achievements and significant milestones in the near future.

Like many of us who are looking forward for a new beginning in 2010, there is this group of IMH patients who are optimistic and are working very hard for a better future. Despite suffering from mental illness, they are talented in baking delicious cookies!

Thanks to Laksania, a Social Enterprise of Spice Connection Pte Ltd, they initiated a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project that established a Central Kitchen within IMH to provide job opportunities and hope to the IMH patients. With the goal to sell a thousand bottles of Laksania cookies to enterprises and institutions, CartMomo initiated the “A Thousand Hearts & Names” campaign on 1 Jan 2010.

Blossom Edugroup did not hesitate to lend a hand to this charitable cause and was delighted to be part of this meaningful project, as it gave the staff and our families the opportunity to impart the value of compassion in our children.

With the generosity and tremendous support from all of our staff, children and parents we helped to ring in a total sale of more than $1,000 from all 4 Blossom branches.

No matter the amount raised, Blossom Edugroup is indeed privileged to be given the opportunity to be part of this worthy cause and learn about compassion, how we can help those in need, with a small but significant step.

We thank our parents for their generous orders and feel very good in making a difference in someone else’s life.
