Blossom organised a Chinese New Year celebration with a whole host of activities. First up, Teacher Liu Yan read a story on the origins of Chinese New Year and introduced an array of customs associated with the New Year e.g. hong baos, Mandarin oranges and traditional ‘Chun Lian’ which are auspicious New Year greetings written in Chinese calligraphy.
Next up, as the whole school broke into song with catchy Chinese New Year tunes, we held an ever popular traditional costume parade among the classes.
Last but not least, came the hugely anticipated lion dance where some children volunteered to come to the front to perform an energetic lion dance performance. Thanks to these sporting children and amidst enthusiastic drumming, our lion dance performance came to live with creative moves and sound effects!
