Blossom Fantasia Centre organised our very first Family Day on 13 Jun 2014. The Friday morning event was held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, with a primary objective of promoting bonding between parents and their children.
On that sunny morning, more than 60 children, parents and teachers had a day of fun and games near the scenic Swan Lake at Botanical Gardens. The day started with a short opening address by the Centre Manager, followed by a ‘Scavenger Hunt’ game requiring participants to locate various spots/monuments around the garden compound.
In this ‘Amazing Race’ style game, each family had to take a family selfie at each spot/monument, with prizes given to the three fastest families that completed the game. It was really nice to see parents and children spending some quality time together, planning their routes and running around the garden. Parents were also encouraged to engage their children to learn about the nature around us, in line with the ‘Nature’ theme for this June holiday programme.
After the Scavenger Hunt, the family’s artistic skills were put to the test. Participants were encouraged to use drawings and/or slogans to describe their families. It was no surprise to find a number of artists amongst us, and the artworks were collected and displayed at the Centre reception area.
The children also had some fun soaking in the sun with bubbles and ball games, while lunch and refreshment were served. All the participants thoroughly enjoyed the day out at Singapore Botanic Gardens, and eagerly looking forward to the next centre outing. A BIG Thank You to the teachers for planning and organising this outing!
