“Beep-Beep!!! The truck with the ride-on mini cars are here!” The kids were getting really excited. They just couldn’t wait to have a hands-on driving experience!
In line with our March school holiday theme, “Safety First”, the Singapore Toy Club has brought in the entire Mobile Road Safety setup to Blossom Discovery Centre on 19 Mar 2015. As the program began, the children were divided into small groups and took turns to participate in the various road safety activities.
They role played as drivers and drove in the battery operated mini cars on real tracks. They learnt to be careful drivers so as to avoid getting fined by the instructors. They also role-played as the pedestrians and learnt to obey the traffic rules. Towards the end of the event, the children were issued with a driving license! Hooray!
Apart of road safety, we also focus on safety at indoor and outdoor play. Bouncing castle was brought in for our children to learn about safety rules while playing so as to avoid accidents or injuries. Hence, when it came to the Bouncing Castle’s time slot, the children followed the safety guidelines obediently and they really had fun time jumping in and out of it!
Throughout the school holiday, we are glad to have our parents taking part in the event through snapping of photos of common traffic signs with their children and to learn about the purpose of those traffic road signs. We held a ‘show-and-tell’ session in the centre to let our children share with each other what they know about the traffic signs and why it is important to acknowledge them.
It has been a thrilling and exciting week for the kids. We hope that this event had raised the awareness of road safety to all the children who have participated. All in all, SAFETY FIRST!
