Children warmed up their bodies with some simple exercises!

Visiting the Health Promotion Board is a yearly tradition for Blossom Berrykidz. This year, we attended the programme ‘School’s Out! Fun Art Classes for Kids’ which was held in conjunction with the Children’s Season 2012. The programme focused on healthy eating habits and learning ways to keep our bodies healthy and strong. Through this half-day workshop and interactive games held during the event, children learned about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

To start off, children engaged in an exercise session to warm up for the day’s activities. After this fun workout, we moved on to Game 2 which was called ‘Eat a Balanced Diet’. This game taught the children how to choose their food wisely. The concept of balanced diet was simplified through the use of a balance scale. Children patiently waited for their turn as they thoughtfully chose the right kinds of food to balance.

Next up was the most anticipated part of the trip – the Fitness Funhouse! Children had so much fun climbing, sliding, rolling and jumping. They tried wall climbing, arcade football, stationary cycling, and playing tug-of-war with a sumo-wrestler!

Making windmills is a lot of fun!

Decorating our windmills with colours and drawings!

All these activities left us feeling tired and hungry. We took a 15 minute break while children had their fill of bread and fresh milk. After getting recharged, we were ready to go to the next activity the ‘Pool of Good Habits.’ Children ‘fished’ for cards showing photos of good habits from a pool of water.

The last part of the programme was an Art Workshop where children created a windmill through the use of a variety of interesting materials. They also drew their favourite fruits on their windmills as decoration. The half-day event ended with each of the children receiving a goodie bag. It was an activity-packed trip that was memorable, educational, and fun for all of us!
