Upon arriving at the NEWater Visitor Centre, children and teachers were warmly welcomed by all the staff and were quickly ushered into the auditorium where we watched we watched a short clip on the importance of water, sources of water and saving water. After watching the clip, there was a question and answer session and some online games for the children to attempt before heading on to the next activity lined up just for Blossom Educare!
Next, we were introduced to water distillation. The children listened attentive as the guide explained the distillation process through videos and computer graphics. The guide patiently explained and showed us pictures of the step-by-step process in creating NEWater at the NEWater factory.
Did you know that there are four stages in which water gets distilled as NEWater? They are: Microfiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Ultraviolet Disinfection and Water Conditioning. After the introduction, majority of the children needed little help in remembering the four stages! Way to go, kids!
Through this excursion, children and adults alike walked away with new found knowledge on the essence of life, WATER! We also learnt the many ways in which to save water and all start with each and everyone of us! Last but not least, we were duly reminded that water is precious and to save and use it wisely!
