Blossom Educare went on a field trip to ‘Hay Dairies Goat Farm’ and the Bollywood Veggies Farm in September for our holiday excursion.
First stop was the Hay Dairies Goat Farm. At the farm, we watched a milking demonstration and listened to a talk about the benefits of goat’s milk.
Next up was a tour around the farm! The children were highly excited to see goats eating and drinking, especially the kids! We were also given a bottle of chocolate flavoured goat’s milk and a souvenir to bring home!
The visit to the goat farm introduced the origins of milk and goodness of milk, particularly, goat’s milk!
Our next stop was ‘Bollywood Veggies’. We were treated to a yummy banana cake, which was prepared at the farm with bananas picked from the farm! After having the light refreshments, we went on a guided tour of the farm. As the guides told us interesting facts about the plants and trees growing in the farm, they also gave us ample opportunities to see, feel, smell and taste some of the leaves and flowers.
It was absolutely hilarious to watch the reaction of the children when they tasted some bitter/sour leaves and smelled some leaves with a strong stench! Through this hands-on session the children gained knowledge about various plants and trees and their uses.
The trip to ‘Bollywood Veggies’ was indeed a wonderful way of introducing a vegetable and fruit farm to the children.
