Turtles and tortoises have been a fascination to children and animal lovers alike. They are known for their unique sense of hearing, their hard protective shell, and their life span of more than 150 years. These amazing creatures were even made more popular by the fable, The Tortoise and the Hare; the animal rescuer Turtle Tuck in Wonder Pets; the sea turtle named Crush in Finding Nemo; Kung Fu Panda’s Master Oogway; and the four brothers in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. No wonder, children cannot stop from loving them.
On 19 March 2013, Blossom Discovery Centre set out into the mysterious world of these shelled reptiles at The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum at Chinese Garden. The children were entertained by the funny antics of these creatures roaming freely throughout the park. They got a chance to pat and feed some of them, they also got to witness eggs hatching.
Apart from these, the children also learnt to recognise the difference between turtles, tortoises, and terrapins. They also learnt how to recognise a male from a female tortoise and other astonishing facts. This is definitely an experience that would be etched in their minds.
