The proceeds from this charity drive went towards the Community Chest and the President’s Challenge 2009.

Blossom also volunteered to be the collection agency for donations from our staff and parents of children enrolled in all our child care centres. The total proceeds, exceeding $1,000.00, were contributed towards the purchase of 2 cm x 2 cm LEGO bricks for use to construct a replica version of the Singapore Island measuring 5 m by 8 m.

The message the structure hopes to convey is – “The First Singaporeans built this country with blood, sweat and tears. Let us now fill it with love, hope and compassion”.

Said Mr Lawrence Lim, Principal of Blossom Edugroup on 22 Nov 2009 when all our children were ushered to the Orchard ION to be personally involved in the fixing of the LEGO bricks on the replica of Singapore Island: “The We Are One campaign presents a perfect opportunity to impart the value of compassion to our young children in the way that they can best associate and appreciate.

Our children will also learn that their concert performance will not just be a celebration, but also an opportunity to raise funds for Singaporeans who were adversely affected by the economic downturn, particularly those who needed that little help from the community to get back on their feet.

We hope that through our children’s hands-on involvement on such a large-scale event, for such a worthy cause, we develop not only the educational and cognitive side of our children, but their moral values as well.”
